San Miguel de Allende is the only market in Mexico that is priced in US dollars. We have a population of about 200,000 people. So, it is a small town, but we have a functioning MLS and we have an association of realtors. This is similar to the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in the United States. The licensing requirements, standards and practices are established within our group, called AMPI. It offers a level of protection and security within your transaction because, generally speaking, you’re dealing with a more informed group. In Mexico and definitely in San Miguel, life is really about the neighborhood. And what’s interesting about our beautiful and special town is that all the neighborhoods have a personality and style that’s different from the other. Beginning to understand these distinctions is key to understanding neighborhoods. In our experience, once one has an understanding of what’s here, then what you’re looking for will become clear. I’m a flipper from Texas, and I’ve lived here nearly 10 years. We’ve completed seven projects in Mexico, five in San Miguel. All of them in San Antonio.
